The Pure Coconut Oil Company (2004) Ltd (PCO) is a relatively new and developing venture, with initial inspiration stemming from and developed by Women in Business. PCO representatives make pacific coconut oil based products readily available for the global market while ensuring development of business throughout the Pacific continuously evolves.

It is our belief that there is a need for such quality products currently not being met by the few resources already on the market.

Production is located around the villages because that is where the coconut resource, the producers and some of the consumers are. The arrangement includes the villagers as de facto business partners rather than workers. The production system uses exclusively a process known as direct micro expelling. The process, although small scale, is efficient and produces a very high quality oil. This can be sold as is or further filtered, or used as a base in other products.

There is no doubt that skin/health care products are a product category that is showing worldwide growth in markets where the population is ageing. Consumer expenditure is huge, driven mainly by motivation for beautiful skin. Virgin coconut oil is a serious contender in that market. Apart from ”vanity” sales, virgin coconut oil can also relieve skin irritations and provide relief from insect bites, skin exma and similar disorders. Using processes such as DME the resulting virgin coconut oil has real product credibility in these categories.

The application of professional marketing through PCO should enable the products to gain and maintain a presence in export markets.

STRUCTURE

PCO has been in effect as a legal entity since of January 2004. The Managing Directors and major shareholders are Kevin Storer, Adimaimalaga (Adi) Tafuna’i and Women in Business.
